30 Years ago, in 1987, a group of people ran the first ever Port Hills Classic. Bikes back then were pretty basic and the tracks were pretty raw. The event has run off and on in different formats since that time. Today’s bikes can handle a lot more and tracks are now purpose-built but the passion people have for riding remains the same.
Here is an article about the first Christchurch mountainbiker and images from the early events.We intend to have some old bikes and memorabilia on display over the weekend.
